The Birmingham Barons
- Minor league baseball in the heart of downtown. The Barons are affiliated with MLB’s Chicago White Sox. The Barons play at Regions Field, conveniently situated across the street from Good People Brewing Company. (There’s nothing quite like having a good beer, then settling into a seat in the stands for a great game.) The Barons in their modern form have existed since 1981, when they began playing at Rickwood Field (the oldest existing professional baseball stadium in the country). The team would move to the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium for a few years – where basketball star Michael Jordan joined the roster in the 1994 season – before moving to their current home in 2013.

The Birmingham Bulls
- If you visited Birmingham years back, you may have been able to take in a Bulls game at the BJCC, back when they were a New Jersey Devils farm team. That team has now been re-born on at the Pelham Ice Arena. It’s a smaller venue, but still packed with all the excitement of hockey in Alabama!
The Birmingham Stallions
- The Stallions are part of the UFL spring football league, playing at Protective Stadium. The team was established in the league’s founding year. An interaction between a team member and your site admin was a big part of why Birmingham Guide exists!
The Birmingham Squadron
- The Squadron play in the NBA G League, as a developmental team for the New Orleans Pelicans. You can catch their games at Legacy Arena, in the BJCC.
The Tragic City Rollers
- Classic flat-track roller derby. TCR has been rolling in the Birmingham metro since 2005. Watch for matches featuring youth teams. Some of the up-and-coming talent TCR cultivates is quite good!
UAB Athletics
- The University of Alabama at Birmingham has a lot of sports! The Blazers compete in Basketball, football, baseball, tennis, track & field, and much more! The link below is to the main athletics web site.
